Soil Types For Landscaping
Description
Before I left Designs by Sundown I was working with management to start a GIS department. This was my first project outside of school. I used free soil data and hardiness zones to create a helpful planting map. I wanted to make a system that can help determine the proper plants and fertilizer to use for various sections of Colorado to enhance plant health for clients. I could not fully implement these changes before I moved to Utah.
Meeker, Colorado Forest Fire Burn Scare
Description
My first passion project using QGIS. All of my schooling was using ArcGIS pro after losing my access to that I pivoted to QGIS. This project was all about learning QGIS and doing raster calculations. I used Sentinel-2 data before and after the fire. I calculated NDVI with the bands I gathered and subtracted them. I used that raster to showcase the burn by finding the lack of vegetation. The brighter red spot in the middle of the map is the burn area. When I used the measuring tool my burn area was within 500 acres then reported officially.
Future Projects
Description
I am currently learning SQL and python and I am going to make a map using these new skills. I would like to embed an interactable map within this website to show live updates.
